Why Might a Gum Graft be Necessary?
A gum graft will be used by a dentist to treat severely receded areas of tissue. The procedure essentially involves removing tissue from a healthy area in the mouth and placing this tissue where in areas where the teeth are abnormally exposed.
How does this treatment work?
- Local numbing agents are first applied ensure your comfort.
- Tissue is then removed from the roof of the mouth.
- Once put in place in the gums, this new tissue will heal over time.
